WHO WE ARE
The West Virginia Forest Resources Coalition (WVFRC) is a group of forest owners aspiring to protect and optimize the resources found on their property. Ranging from small, family-owned properties and farmlands to large-scale tracts of protected forests, the WVFRC is made up of a diverse set of forestland owners. These families, trusts and corporations have worked to provide the best return on investment for West Virginians. WVFRC members have championed a diverse forest management program, including expanded access for outdoor tourism and recreation, timber harvesting, forest carbon programs, and more.
West Virginia’s forests are one of our state’s greatest natural resources. Their overwhelming beauty has led West Virginians to adopt the moniker, “Almost Heaven,” and we couldn’t agree more. Our forest owners have stewarded these centuries-old forests for generations. To ensure their continued success, forest owners must have the freedom to contract freely and to optimize all the resources at their disposal.
OUR MISSION
The WVFRC’s primary purpose is to protect the individual rights and liberties of all forest owners within our state. We believe in the Fifth Amendment’s right to private property is sacred, and West Virginia’s forest owners should be able to optimize the resources found on their property, whether that be through timber harvesting, energy siting, selling forest carbon credits, or through expanded outdoor recreation access and development.
